Lewiston is no stranger to violence, and Susan Longchamps says the juvenile justice system is broken. Her message for Augusta: if we don’t make our city safer, nothing else matters.
Chuck Ellis sits down with Susan Longchamps, Republican candidate for Maine House District 93 in Lewiston. Susan was born and raised in Lewiston’s Tree Streets, one of seven kids in a close family with a Mexican mother and a father who struggled with alcohol. She beat the odds, built Webbs Market into more of a resource center than a grocery store, and has spent three years on the Lewiston City Council, often in the minority. Susan and Chuck talk about compassion and accountability, why holding young people accountable is part of caring about them, what she learned working with kids at Long Creek, and why she won’t give up on her city.
